OVERVIEW
BREATHE
In recent years, the incidence of bronchial asthma have been increasing , becoming a worldwide health problem.
Breathe is an asthma inhaler which can better serve the elderly patients with arthritis.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Elderly asthma patients are often accompanied by the onset of skeletal diseases such as arthritis, which can lead to joint stiffness, swelling and deformity, intermittent joint pain and pressing pain. And they often have weak hands. At the same time, the deterioration of systemic organs and the slow response due to aging also limit the use of products of elderly patients.
CONTEXT
Asthma is a chronic disease that occurs in people of all ages, characterized by polypnea and repeated outbreak. Currently, about 300 million people have asthma. In 2015, 383,000 people died of this disease, among which the elderly are the majority.
In recent years, the results of epidemiological studies on senile asthma have shown that the number of old people suffering from asthma is increasing year by year. Domestic studies have shown that the incidence of severe asthma in elderly asthma patients is almost two to three times compared to that of non-elderly patients.
SECONDARY RESEARCH
Study the historical development process of asthma inhalers, analyzing the evolution of products from three dimensions and further understand the product characteristics.
Study the historical development process of asthma inhalers, analyzing the evolution of products from three dimensions and further understand the product characteristics.
COMPETITOR ANALYSIS
Conduct research on existing products in the market to study the relations between products and target groups and the problems arising from the product service system.
PERSONA & JOURNEY MAP
Older arthritis asthma patients have difficulties in pressing the asthma inhaler. They need a simple and labor-saving method to turn it on and off. The product should be as portable and lightweight as possible to meet travel and home needs. And the functions shall be easy to understand.
SYNTHESIS
OPPORTUNITY
-
I consider combining sensors and other technologies with asthma inhalation products to achieve more intelligent and humanized effects in way of use.
-
Simplify the operation steps with focus on the characteristics of older users.
SKETCHES
PROTOTYPING
The product can be aware of the location of the elderly in advance through infrared range sensor. When the distance reaches the preset value, the product performs the atomization operation without additional operation, alleviating the pressing difficulty of the elderly patient. At the same time, the simplified buttons and functions will be achieved, in order to make the product easier to be operated.
USER FLOW
Take out the machine
Turn on the power switch
Pour the liquid
Install the mask or the nozzle
Get close to the product and start aerosol treatment
